Boswells, established in 1738, was one of the world’s oldest family-owned department stores and a cherished part of the Oxford community.

The Store pays homage to this legacy by retaining the original Rutland sandstone façade and the iconic “Boswell & Co” signage. Inside, guests will discover thousands of pieces of memorabilia from the building’s history, including original artwork and vintage advertisements that evoke memories of the beloved store.

Now home to 101 thoughtfully designed rooms spread across seven floors, The Store features six distinct room typologies, each offering a unique take on comfort and style. From bespoke furnishings to design elements inspired by Oxford’s rooftops and academic tradition, the hotel’s interiors offer a strong sense of place, character, and quiet luxury.
